yes, spray the studs/nuts holding the cluster in with Kroil, etc. and tap on it - repeat 3x day for a few days
then see if the nuts will come off easily - do not break the stud off clean up the entire area - you will likely find hidden rust under the cluster clean the holes, cover with dum-dum |

![]() Nasty dirty pedal cluster before complete tear down, cleaning painting and reassembly. I recommend taking it out, apart, taking it somewhere and having it blasted and Powder-coated and then installing new bushings and re assembly. You’ll never have to go back and do it again. The Queen's Outlaw
Spent some quality time with the car today. Pulled the whole rear interior out to track down some persistent leaks. On some pelicans’ advice, I tried the 3m glazing product. Take home points:
1. This liquid butyl is a mess. Be prepared with at least 10 pairs of gloves. A full roll or paper towels. A pint of mineral spirits. Several shapes of trim tools in plastic. Ugh this stuff is hideous to work with. Step 1 Mask off around the rubber seals. This is very important and will save you time in the long run Step 2 I tried puncturing a tiny hole in the container, so less mess- but the product was so thick that this backfired and made it ooze after I had stopped pulling the trigger because it was under so much pressure. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

After sealing the inner and outer rubber seals around the windshield and a couple hours cleaning up I did a water test. You could hear my cursing a block away. Water appears to be tracking in thru the openings above the windshield?!?!?!
![]() Does anyone know if water goes in thru these holes???? Suggestions? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

And then there is this. I can’t justify the expense to pay for a full glass out paint right now. What should I do about these rust patches????

It never sleeps!
That needs to be addressed before it burns through or the underlying pinch weld gets eaten. If you can't afford the full car glass out paint job, then pull the glass, clean & seal the rust, & get some paint on it, even if it's a slight mis-match. Much cheaper now than if you wait two more years and have some expensive cutting & patching metal work. |

Drat. I was worried that that was a needed temp fix. Thanks

A good shop can match it. And it's in an easy spot to blend, It's not metallic. Do it now because what's under there is much more than you see. Been there done that!

Y’all are right. That is just the encouragement I need to get the rust taken care of now. I was trying “not to see” it mainly because I don’t know of any good body shops or window shops in town that will or should touch the car. The fiberglass hood also has some bubbles where the paint lifted. If anyone knows. Good shop in the New Orleans area please let me know.
Now that my leaks are under control, I went to put the interior back together and found a few issues. The parcel shelf has warped beyond salvage and is embedded with nasty smell. I think my greyhound may have “marked” it while I had set it out to dry. Yuck Went to Home Depot- and picked this up to make a new parcel shelf. I also considered press board but it was so heavy and looked hard to work with so I thought I would try this first. I am thinking of doing 2 layers of this product glued together. Stopped by Tandy to get some new cow hide for the parcel shelf and realized that my door cards (white kid leather) also had water stains. I learned so much redoing this interior that now the flaws look more obvious to me. I had used a oil tanned thicker leather for the dash before and it never has looked quite right to me. So I bought some thinner leather to redo the dash, and the cow hides and pigskin for the door cards . Tandy bill. 485.00. Home Depot 11.00 Also ordered a meter of the square weave to replace the moldy area of the carpet behind the seats. I didn’t see this until it was already too late to get the stains out. Even tried bleach in the washing machine but the square weave is ruined in this area. ![]() Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Hey, Queen! I don't personally have a rec for any shops but found this online: https://www.pcarwise.com/local-help/porsche-repair-shops/south-central/new-orleans/
Have heard good things about Greff but again no personal experience. I would think if one of these shops can't or won't do the work that they could at least provide you with a good recommendation. Good luck!

THIS -unfortunately- is something you SHOULD adress ASAP.
From my experience, that rust lurking out from below the seal is 5 times worse under the seal. And I presume more bad that the frame has already rusted through. no way to fix that with the window in. Neither with sealant nor any metal work needed. You'll hate yourself ignoring this. this area is critical… a friends car has had nearly unnoticed all sheet metal rusted away under the seal and the parcel shelve pop the window and inspect.

My 911SC had the common rust on the lower corners of the front windshield (though not as bad as what yours may be). Anyway I brought the car to a local body shop and they fixed the rust and perfectly matched the silver color in just those corners. So - it can be done without a whole respray. Yours might involve a bit more metal work.

While deciding how to proceed with the rust issue, thought I would consider the new look for my door panels and parcel shelf. After removing 1 million staples here I am...

FYI. 66 dash can be removed from via passenger door without removing windshield. Knee pad held on with 4 8mm nuts, note to self ”learn from the errors of your past. Leave one side in while I do the other. Helps with putting things back together”

CAE makes a product designed specifically for door interiors.
Cascade Audio Engineering – Sound Damping and Sound Blocking – Anything Else is a Compromise (no connections except as a customer) There is also the question of how much heavier you want the car to be... |

Used the cascade products on the entire interior. They hid my moisture problem for a long time as the water pooled behind the lead . I opened a few “tell all” spots in the sound deadening so I won’t have the mold problem next time she leaks.
Here are the parcel shelf original measurements for someone wanting to know where to start cutting. 44.5 by 23.75 inches max Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
