Who rebuilds/refurbish CDI units and Motronic ECUS?

I planing on rebuilding my 1985 Carrera engine over the winter (top end only) with100,00 miles and the transmission (syncros tired) hopefully no dog teeth and I want to refurbish the electric components. Thanks

You could not go wrong by sending the DME to either Ingo or Sal (scarceller) both active members of this forum. They have excellent reputation and expertise.

I had Steve Wong rebuild and add a chip. I also had him resolder the original relay. I should be good for 20+ years.

Since you have received help from the Pelican Parts Forum consider sending your units to Pelican Parts,
as they provide that service too.

Surprised to not have seen many who frequently post on the Forum mention Pelican Parts.
Well, so much for trying to "payback" the Forum for all its contribution to the Porsche community

I have purchased 10's of thousands of dollars worth of parts from Pelican. I didn't know they provided that service.

And then if you're really into DIY efforts, you can solve your potential DME ECM problem (95% of failures)
by a 5 minute soldering effort of 3 intermittent pins:

Bob Ashlock (That's his user name on this forum) will purchase your old one or rebuild it. I chose to go with an MSD unit and pointless distributer unit and am very happy I did.

check pout Partsklassic...............................he sells a CDI (3 and six pin cdi that uses digital technology as well as a "worthy" coil and wire harness for the CDI, Coil, distributor.

I had ECU Doctors rebuild the DME in my 993, They did a great job, quick and easy to deal w/. Highly recommended!!
