Did you get the relay issue sorted? Does the car turn over normally now without the problems you had when you first plugged in a new relay?

No relay issue as I've confirmed the pump is working. It turns over fine just no spark. I still need to install the replacement ignition switch and maybe that is the reason I am not getting spark?

The ignition switch did not fix the "no spark" issue. Went back to the original Bosch coil. Now I am thinking it is the CDI. I see our guest has them for $200. Any other ideas before I jump in on the CDI?

Contact Mr. Kontak........

Vance, Have you considered having your CDI tested by someone near you? I don't have my SC in my house right now and the '79 motor I recently rebuilt was pick up by the owner last week. Maybe our friend Bob K. would offer to test it (?). Is this a Bosch CDI? Tony |

Tony - It is the 6 pin Bosch CDI. I am about an hour from Bob but maybe he would offer to test it? My other option is to spend the $200 with our host. I continue to research but am running out of options?

CDI test.......
Quote:
Vance, How sure are you that the CDI is defective? Have you checked with Ingo or Sal? Let us know if Mr. Kontak could not test it. I will test it on my '78 SC that has been stored in my son's house for many years now. I have more CDI and ECU's than I would ever need and more not shown in the picture. It is best to test a CDI or ECU or DME on a good running car. Tony |

I did not retain the six pin configuration when I switched to the MSD. It's under the driver's seat. Sorry.

Tony - Interested in selling one of the CDI units for an '83?
I am missing key driving time for a cabriolet here in NE Ohio. Need to check what Pelican's return policy is on electronics.

Post a WTB ad.........
Quote:
Vance, Try to post a Wanted to Buy Ad for a good working 6-pin Bosch CDI. I like to save them for my tests and would consider selling if you could not find one. Just make sure you are getting a good unit and these are getting expensive these days. Good luck. Tony |
