Forum Introduction and Rasant Products Update
Hi Everyone,
I wanted to officially introduce myself to here on the forums, and provide some updates from Rasant Products. I have been working with Andrew for a few months, and we are pretty excited about the growth we have seen, and the positive feedback we have been getting from our EFI kits. I met Andrew when we were both working at Honda R&D in Ohio a few years ago, and have followed his progress closely. I am really happy to be out in California now, and officially apart of the Rasant team. For those of you who are not familiar with our company, Rasant products makes complete plug and play engine management systems for air cooled 911s. We provide a wire harness, ECU, fuel and ignition system to give these vintage cars a modern engine control system. For more information on our products and what we do, check out our website in my signature or search for us here in the forums. On to the most important topic, I am also a relatively new 911 owner! I picked up a white ’78 SC with widebody turbo flares last year. Being in California, I had a fun time getting her up to smog worthy status, and have been enjoying a completely stock, healthy 3L. However… with Andrew having over a year head start on his 3.5L engine build, the jealousy has had plenty of time to set in. I can stand idle no longer while that red car repeatedly pulls away from me on the canyon roads. The short term plans are to install our EFI kit, and give a true A to B comparison on a stock 3.0. I will be sure to post the before and after dyno plots when the results are in. For the longer term plans, I really liked the turbo badge that came on the car when I got it, but could in no good conscious leave it on there with a stock engine. Andrew is holding it until I can prove that the car is truly deserving of the name, so some turbos are inevitably in the works. To keep up with his NA, responsive engine with ITBs, I am going for a very drivable twin turbo setup that spools really fast, and provides a flat torque curve. Now for a quick Rasant update, I am pleased to announce our official launch of a new harness using all MilSpec materials. This harness is incredibly demanding to build, but the final product is well worth it. Check out the details and pictures of the setup here on our website. Welcome to the forum and to air cooled ownership, Tom!
Glad to hear that Rasant is growing. I've been really impressed with what I've seen of your EFI conversions. It's something that is definitely on my "to do" list. Looking forward to watching your build. Curiosity question -- are you going to be keeping the stock intake plenum or will you be changing that somehow when you add turbos?

Thanks Guys!
tirwin, I think to start a 930 manifold is what I will go with, or maybe the 3.2 manifold. I'd also really like to do twin water/air intercoolers.
