Got Your Snow Shoes On?

And another question: How many of you are running snow tires for the winter season? If you are, what brand and type?

Me? I changed over to Dunlop M2 Winter Sports for the Winter. Seems to me that if you drive your Pcar all winter, and live in the northern states, it's just good insurance. Not that Virginia is "northern", but we do get our share of winter weather and crappy roads. Besides, need good winter tires to avoid the damn SUVs speeding down the hiways and byways.

Running on Kumho IZEN KW15

Find them better on snow and mud than the Pirellis I had before but not so good in the dry.

I took a little detour from a skiing trip last weekend to a spectator stage of the SnoDrift Pro Rally in Atlanta Michigan. Lots of snow! Here's what they were using:

Looks like that C4 is using spacers to get those Fuchs to fit, no?

I think those are spacers on the rear axle............

I am pleased with the Michelin Arctic Alpin tires on my daily driver AWD Laser/Talon/Eclipse. The difference between the Michelins and the Eagle GT's is night and day (of course we all know Eagle GT's are crap regardless of weather! Those were replaced with Dunlop D60 A2's.)

I'm surprised more people don't equip themselves with a spare set of crap wheels and some winter tires. Well worth the $$$ IMO.

Hey Cegerer! Great photos. Thanks for posting them. I would think watch AND running in a winter rally would be an absolute blast!

Quick question for anyone: What is the small gray mini-light-looking-thingee directly in front of the four-light cluster on the Yellow Pcar? Some like of sensor?

I am using the BFGoodrich G-force KDWS, there is very little talk about these in this forum. The name is certainly not very exotic but for a daily driver in a place like Fargo, they turned out to be most excellent. Great all-around tire, quite good in the snow and ice. After plenty of consideration, I thought that it was between these and the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S, which were a bit more pricy.

I've been driving on Goodyear Ultragrips for three winters now. Can't compare them to other snows cause that's all I've ever used. They're a bit spooky on dry pavement, but I think that's because I'm running very narrow tires (185) on all four wheels
