Selling your SC, what's the big deal?

Oh.. the SC... oh, Venkman.. I'm so sorry

Stick around, Lee. Try to drag out the sale as long as you can!

it will be no time at all and you will be back in a 911.
You know the EOD guys are the ones with the big bucks! Ha Ha...higher monthly pay and a career field bonus to boot...just a matter of time before you are back. Good luck, keep in touch.

Hopefully you'll be "between Porsches" rather than "Porscheless" Good luck selling your car and good luck finding another 911 when that time comes.

As I've just got married myself I can understand what your saying, in fact I'm thinking along similar lines myself.
Its strange how priorities can change so suddenly.
Good luck with it all.

I just got my 87 911 after an 11 year absence. It was well worth it and my wife was worth it big time.

Maybe next time you'll get a Carrera!

Good luck....If you are ever near Boston and need to take a p-car for a ride or a day, just let me know.

Dave

You are gonna SOB like a baby when the new owner drives away.

I sold my pride and joy (while my porsche was an undriveable pile of parts) so my wife could get something better than her rusted 130k mile buick century.

I sobbed for the next half hour driving home as my car puttered of into the distance.

The long hooded bretheren would be interested in your car. To burn at the stake! Would an offering like that get my car back on the road sooner?

All seriousness aside, yep, you're doing the right thing. My wife knows that I would sell both the P-cars today if they were causing any tension between us. Because she knows that she is first (and precious), she has no problem with parts all over the garage, and wants me to go all out when it comes to buying a new helmet or other safety gear. Can you believe that? She even wants me to protect my Porsche crazy head! There will always be used 911s for sale. First things first. Life gets better. Insert your own mushy thought here. Etc.

hmm,

That blows almost as much as Carreras. ( Just for you, Lee )

About 4 months before I got married in '93, I sold my 74 BMW 2002tii.

Doing it sucked but I knew it was for the right reasons. Here I am 10 years later selling my 911 for the right reasons. And as atlporsche said, sobbing is imminent. sigh

Lee, shoot me an email off line. When are you looking at relocating?

This is like Deja Vu all over again. This is a good thing. Seriously. I spent about 5 years in between Porsches (marriage, house, kid, etc.) You will undoubetedly purchase a better one the next time. Perhaps a Carrerra.

But you will have withdrawl symptoms such as:

You will stop in your tracks everytime you see one.

You will do the same everytime you Hear one (this is the worst since you will also have to look at it drive by)

You will probably snoop around the board for a while checking on the progress of your "plot"

No worries, it is just a car, plenty more to go around, bad economy makes them cheap enough.

Congrats on the Marriage thing. And you thought the Porsche was challenging......................

Lee...best wishes for a very long and wonderful marriage.
It's obvious that you are willing to compromise, I hope Erin appreciates it.
And , when the time is right....you will have the good sense and opportunity to buy an early, long hood, with MFI ! LOL
Keep in touch with the board if you can.
Bob

Porsche made lots of cars, Lee. God only made one Erin for you. Be good, and hang in. Things will come back to you twice over. I have a vision for your "better" car, and it's not one of those overweight Carrreas...nope. Remember, I owe you a drive in an early 911S. Once you experience that, it'll be all over...the founder of the SCWDP will come over to the side of enlightenment... Seriously, my best wishes for you both, and the Feds are fools if they don't snap you up the day you leave EOD...(I'd email, but I think my ISP got virused. Nothing in or out of here for a couple of days now. )

You really are making the right decision. Family comes first. The car can be replaced family can't.

Even when you're Between Porsches, You will be more than welcome at any meet I ever attend, and you're welcome to drive my car at that meet. Guys like you are far and few between.

Sorry to see you having to sell. I fully understand how hard it will be, but think of the experience you have gained with the car. Next time around won't be as expensive or nerve racking.

By the way, thanks for being there to defend our country in these trying times.

I had my ancient computer apart this morning, working on it, while watching The Racer's Group #66 ace Daytona on Speed TV.

Imagine my sadness when I plugged it in, only to read this unthinkable news about our Founders retirement.
While we fully understand your reasons Lee, the legions of SCWDP faithful will mark this day with deep regret.

However, I fully expect we will see your return to the ranks someday, sooner than later.
*Not* in a weak-bolts, Carrera 3.2......nor a rusted-out earlee car. No, that's not the style of our Founder. When you return, there will be a special SC out "there".....somewhere, with your name on it.

Until then, best wishes to you and Erin!

Edit: It just came to me after I posted the above, that it was your Engine Rebuild Overview, that gave me the confidence to tackle my own engine this Winter. Thank you, Lee.
