Car won't start...troubleshooting help needed
Guys, I know my car has some serious vacuum leaks but it's been running okay since I tweaked the mixture. I was out running an errand the other day and got close to the last few drops of fuel when the car stuttered a bit and died. I thought I'd run out of fuel but she started back up and I was able to fill up and get home no problem. I did notice thought that there was more hesitation if I quickly blipped the throttle (no response, chocking symptom for a split second). Anyway, parked the car and the next day she will crank like crazy but won't start. I was about to drop the engine to fix all my vacuum leaks, but would like to verify my fuel pressures. Now I can't do that since I don't have a running car. Should I at least check the full pump side pressure? I will verify spark today but I doubt that's the issue since I has an MSD installed a year ago.
So, my question is...what do I do next? My first instinct is to drop the engine (assuming I verify good spark), fix all my vacuum leaks, get a new fuel filter, check the accumulator, put the engine back in and go from there. I also suspect that my WUR is acting up...if Tony is listening, can I send it to you to get checked out? Thoughts appreciated guys, thanks. |

OK, that eliminate the famous DME Relay since you don't have one

You can run your pressure tests with just the fuel pump running. Jump 30 and 87a at the fuel pump relay and switch the key on.

CIS troubleshooting........
Quote:
You don't need a running engine to measure your fuel pressures (control, system, and residual). Do you know how to test the FP? Do you have a set of CIS fuel pressure gauge kit? Verify if you have ignition signal by using an inductive timing light. I will be back home in two (2) weeks after a month vacation here at Carmel, CA. Do not drop the engine or remove the WUR until tests are done. If you have any question, simply ask. There are plenty of guys that could help you too. Keep us posted. Tony |

I'll verify spark later tonight. Then I'll get a set of gauges as the next step. Will keep you posted. |

Fix the leaks......get some gauges, set it to stock.......CIS is all about fuel pressure and NO freaking vac leaks.....
This is not a Honda.....
