1986 targa question
I have a 1986 targa. The rear window seal is starting to crack. I want to have it replaced but was told it is very hard. Does anyone know of a shop located in north Florida that can do the job? If not north Florida I would be willing to drive it south for the right shop to do the job. Any recommendations are welcome.
Thought I would share a photo |

If you're talking base seal, never did it myself so am referring to threads seen. Mixed opinions---some say no prob. Others say PITA. Seems trick is getting enough evenly spread downward force on glass... without breaking it. Clever DIY solution is to drive bolts in floor and run straps up around glass to pull it down. Forgot who did that and name of thread.
Nice Targa---white & black... Classic!

I removed and installed the rear glass on my 80 Targa during a restoration over 10 years ago. I used straps that were connected to the seat mounts. Probably one of the scariest nerve racking tasks tasks I have ever done. I can't imagine the cost would have been if I cracked the glass. I never did get the metal trim back on the seal.

Hopefully someone that lives down there will chime in, as it might be tough to find a shop. I would think a good restoration shop could either do it or knows someone.
Here are a couple of threads I've saved in case I ever decide to do this myself, including the one Karl referenced. Quick Targa window install trick Targa real window seal Mark
