How to lubricate gas pedal and linkages?
1988 3.2 Is there anything you can lubricate on the gas pedal and the linkages? The engine is in the car so I would guess the throttle linkage stuff is nearly impossible to lube? If there are places what to use for lube as well.

Gas pedal is plastic and has no moving parts, so no need to lubricate.
1. Pivot shaft behind gas pedal (under floorboard, plastic bushings) 2. Pivot shaft on transmission (plastic bushings, easy to lube/replace) 3. Shaft on throttle console on engine (under intake manifold near breather cover, metal bushings, hard to reach/replace)

doesn't the throttle cable run along the clutch cable? at least in the sc's I think they do (I may be wrong)
it can be common for those two cables to get gunked together and cause some issues, maybe adding lube to the clutch cable can help... thinking out lout '

Any and all of the ball & socket end of the linkages can be cleaned of grit and lubed. (grease)
There is one on the plastic gas pedal too. Consider replacing the plastic/nylon(?) bushings of the accelerator pedal cluster (901 423 253 00 M105) and transmission bellcrank bushings with bronze ( 914-423-211-00-M105). This would be part of a pedal cluster project. A picture of the pedal cluster throttle crank with bad crumbly bushings and the tranny bell crank with new bronze bushings is below. There is another bell crank on the top of the engine deck that can be cleaned, lubed, and have it's bushings replaced (check/inspect for 2 springs as well). It is where gtc describes his item 3) above, but will require intake removal. I don't have those 2 bushing PNs on hand. I did the above over a couple years as part of other mini projects while I was in the respective areas. I have not done the tunnel bushings yet. ![]() ![]()
