SC carpet in a Carrera?

Hi all,
I have an option to buy a carpet set from a 911 SC for my 1987 Carrera and wondering if the differences will be too great and that it'll be difficult to make it fit, or whether it can be tailored relatively easily?
Thanks in advance.

same body style to same body style- should be more or less the same. the only differences would be a few cut-out's for equipment -such as the heater controls in the center. if its a good deal- I'd go for it

The main difference is the footwell carpet pieces that cover the footwell blower area are completely different and will NOT work at all in your 87 Carrera. The SC carpet set has the "map pocket" located there. Other than that the rest of the carpet pieces are the same.

Thanks for the replies. So the footwell carpet pieces cannot be made to fit my car?

No, the Carrera has a couple of fitted pieces to cover the footwell blowers
whereas the SC has single piece with a map pocket in it. There is not enough material in the SC piece to cover the blower area.

One fix would be to remove your footwell blowers, then the SC carpet would work.

I'm still a little confused. My carrera footwells have covers as per the pics so won't the SC carpet pieces just glue on top of this?

A map pocket might be useful!

The footwell blowers are above, not on the side so I'm not sure how removing them would help.

Can't seem to find an answer to this so any help much appreciated.

You could try to "kluge" it to work, but I believe you will run into problems.
The map pocket piece fits flush and is glued to the body sheet metal (take off the covers and imagine that there is no blower motor there). I don't think the map piece will have enough material to cover the blower cover and still be able to reach far enough for the attached vinyl to be glued into the door weather strip channel where it's supposed to go.
Of course, you could just leave the blower cover pieces off, and it may work. Let us know how it works out. With pics of course!
