How to get this brake line off the trailing arm - special tool?
See this pic - because of the recess, I can't get enough of the wrench to grab the nut, which I have to counter hold to loosen the brake line. I've looked for a special tool to do this, but can't find one. What do you guys do? With the notorious stripping of nuts on brake lines, I am reluctant to half-ass it. This is the only thing keeping me from removing the training arm.

looks like an O2 sensor socket would work not sure the size though

Take a picture of the other side of the fitting. May be just a clip holding it in there.

I see 4 options
If it's just held in place by the clip, remove the clip and push through otherwise: cut a slot in a box end wrench that will go over the line. should fit in the recess but if it doesn't, you could grind the perimeter Cut the brake line and use a deep socket, replace line Cut the hard line and pull it through, replace hard line

At least you are honest, and now I know there is a clip there. I plan to change mine sometime this winter. Thanks for the tip and photo.

Whoever installed that clip, did it wrong side out. It should be installed with the lip facing out so you can get a hold of it for removal. Also the curvature if the main part of the clip should act as a spring to help pull the hose mount into the bracket.

Like he said ^ The brake clip is flipped,
but using the following method you should be able to carefully work it out. I wasn't able to pull mine from the top even with it facing the right way. Use a bit of pressure on each side to work the clip carefully up and protect the arm with a wood block so you don't scratch it up. ![]()

pry the clip off.......use "line wrenches" to loosen fittings.

worst case, you could put some vice grips on the barrel end that the tube nut is threaded into. Its the same part as the hex you can't get a wrench on so if you can hold it with the vice grips and then use a line wrench to loosen the tube nut you'll be in business.
