Clutch arm removal help needed
My first time removing this bugger, and apparently a first for the car too as nothing wants to budge. Wayne's instructions say something like "slide it off". Well, mines not sliding anywhere. This is the main arm, the little one came off easily. Do I have to release the big spring first by prying it off the post. This will be tricky considering that the other end on the clutch release shaft isn't moving at all.
Advice appreciated, thanks. |

And what Porsche do you have?
Some arms have a pin that needs to be driven out. Some arms have rust / corrosion that requires a puller Some arm just slides off.

I have an 82 SC. No pin in there. I think I might need a puller, but my other question is do you try to get the main tension spring off the arm first, or just pull the whole arm off at the same time till the spring is free? Thanks.

Pop it to relieve the spring pressure and remove the clutch cable.
If it doesn't pivot you're (rusted) or frozen on the vertical shaft. I have had success with heating it to swell it off the shaft or I have used a air chisel with the pin Point to vibrate while pulling down on the lever. Also a combination of both. Now if there is a pin holding it, that. Needs to be removed in order to remove the arm. Pain, real pain too close quarters... The arm is operational if it moves freely on the horizontal with the pin.
