Post Opinions wanted: Fiske FM5 v. FM10

I'm going with big reds and need 17" wheels. Which do you like best for my black on black 78SC Targa?

FM5:

Sort of like Bill Verburg's Targa(on my SC the wheels would not be black);

FM10:

Greg Gulik's Carrera;

Deffinately FM10!!! Oh my those are sweeeeet!

I think one of the guys in "Tale of two SCs" from San Fran in a recent Excellence article had those wheels too... Yah, the article that was a cause of major controversy on this list

If I were a rich man I would ride FM10s!!! A local guy keeps having deals on Miglia turbo twists and they just do not do it for me like the Fiske wheels.

I'd vote for the FM5.

Easier to clean and more polished spoke surface to stand out/shine.

Bill's are actually Kinesis wheels, FWIW.

Simmons makes a nice five spoke, three-piece, 17 in. wheel. That is, unless you're dead set on Fikse. Simmons might be more cost effective for the same result. I don't have them, but appear to be a quality wheel.

I sort of like the 5 spoke designs from Kinesis, Fikse or Simmons, they're elegant and easy to keep clean. If you have ever tried to keep the lattice style clean you know what I speak of(unless you are not anal, like me).

I vote for the 5's. To me they look more "classic". I also have had the displeasure of cleaning web type wheels for what seemed like hours.

I don't think you can go wrong either way. And since I don't have to keep 'em clean, go with the 10's and have fun.

10's by a mile and a half. I am partial to the BBS RS style wheels.

between those, I'd go with the 10s.

Is there anything more ubiquitous and boring than the "5 spoke star" wheel these days???

I think FM-5s look best on the early 911s, and FM-10s look best on the later models. Of course, I'm biased :

Here are some Pics of my car with both the wheels you are talking about. I like both. The black fm5's look like fuchs on steroids. The fm10's are a bit lighter though.

5 spokes just look right on 911 and 964, the cleaning issue can be a major pain with narrow spoke spacing. Plus the fabulus brakes can be shown to their best advantage with 5 spokers. contrasting colors are a plus, black on a silver car lilke Bill Vs, or 8911s black on red, silver on a black car as proposed, yellow centers on a green car, blue ctrs on a white car etc.
