question for those w/ 3.6 transplants
Have any of you used a 3.2 cross bar to position the rear of the engine in the chassis.
and if you did what engine mount console was used, stock 3.6 or stock 3.2 or ??

I Have You have to use a 3.2 console If it's a 964 you need to use a small pulley like the Patrick or Clewitt

It's a 993 so I need both the bar and the console from a 3.2 the 3.2 console bolts to the engine the bar connects the console to the chassis I'm hearing that w/ this setup I can eliminate the spacers dropping the rear of the engine, correct? I'll also use Roger Sheridans f/g tin clones any idea if the RS single sheave pulley I'm using will work here? ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

The Carrera console form is larger due to the size of the crank pulley for the A/C

When I built my 3.2 I deleted the AC and wanted a single row pulley. Wasn't easy to find an exact swap.
Henry at Supertech knew what I needed and set me up with the correct diam pulley, was from a MFI car. Maybe give him a call Monday. No longer have the dual ac pulley or I'd measure it for you. |

For anyone else, I would suggest they contact the guru of sizes and knowledge on brakes, on Pelican, a man called Bill Verburg.

Thanks Dan!
Then i'll be able to compare to the 993RS pulley I have You wouldn't happen to have a 3.2 engine mount console on hand? If this works out as I hope I'll need that , Rennline looks to have a cross bar that works and Roger Sheridan has the f/g

I have just converted my G body 3.6 engine conversion to 3.2 engine “tin” and 3.2 engine console and cross brace. The engine fits much better. I never liked the 1” spacer technique as some had used to utilize the 993 engine tin.
I ended up using the Rothsport racing pulley for my 993 based engine in my 86’ coupe’. The pulley Rothsport offers fits within the 3.2 console and is the same diameter as the original 993 alternator belt pulley. I hope this helps Regards, Steve

![]() That is the exact problem I want to correct, I've had 2 different stock aftermarket exhaust setups on the car sine I went 3.6 in 1994, Both have a droopy drawer look wrt to the exhaust due to the 1.25" spacers used w/ the 964/993 engine mount console and cross bar. A third custom exhaust I had fabbed from scratch fit perfectly but is now blown out and the fabricator is no longer available. It looks to me that the issue is just the tin(modified 3.0 in my case) but several sources such as yourself that use the all 3.2 parts mention that the spacers aren't needed and the exhaust looks normal, ie doesn't hang low. I want to replace the existing old tin any way so while in there I hope to rectify the low hang of the engine at the rear. It's still unclear as to why I can't just remove the spacers when I replace the tin w/ Sheridans f/g versions, while keeping the existing 993 console, bar and pulley. He has f/g tin rplacement for the 3.6 t/p into a 911 chassis, but also mentions the 3.2 mount console and bar.

I am investigating replacing a 993-engine mount console w/ a 3.2 version.
The main remaining concern is whether or not the existing 993RS single sheave pulley can be retained.

I used Roger Sheridan’s FG “tin” as well. But as far as I know as of a few months ago, you will need the 3.2 console and cross brace to use his tin kit for the 993 3.6 conversion.
Also as I understood it, the spacers were a work around to use the 993 console, cross brace and tin. Here are a couple of photos. Not great admittedly. I recently performed a g-50 conversion so, I needed the different console and tin to get it to fit into an 86’ coupe’. As you can see I had to slightly bend the cross brace to get it all into the car while retaining the torsion bars. Etc… I have yet to reinstall the muffler so I cannot comment on that. But I can say, I never liked how the engine hung down low with the spacers and the muffler and HE were also very low. ![]() ![]()

As you already know.
But, here is an old photo of the 993 console, cross brace and tin that requires the spacers at the cross brace to lower the engine so it will all fit into a G body. ![]() Regards, Steve
