86 Targa, fuse 2 blew twice, Car is in winterized.. help.

I only got 2 days of driving in my new to me 86 911.. then winter hit..

I bring it in the garage, plug it in, as the PO has a one of those trickle/bat maintainer that has a hard wire option to the batt visa a quick clip..

The electric seats worked fine when I got it.

As any new 911 owner would do with a card in the stable, I stare at it and find every little thing I missed in my inspection of it and begin to really figure this thing out.

I removed the cruise control module as PO disconnected it and said it was U/S. I have no plans of ever using it.

I found the auto heat ( not installed ) hook up

I bought 2 bulbs for the frunk and the glove box. Works now.

Rummaged about drivers seat, possible jiggling wires and found out electric seats didn’t work.

Replaced fuse 2, Success!

Today I was showing a friend the car ( my seat supports were re welded 5” rearward and DME installed rearward to not interfere) and I went to move the seat power...DEAD

Check fuse 2... popped.

How would i smartly tackle this issue, and would the 12v constant power be the culprit?

I have never used the AC blower except for knowing it worked when PO showed me the car.. the fuse 2 says AC blower and seat power....

Thx.

There was no way it would be as easy as buy well maintained 36 year old car, and go.. lol

I wouldn't muck with the 36 year old wiring, fuses until you have checked if anything is corroded, wired wrong and figured what the PO has done with it.
The last thing you want is to short anything.

How well does the seat move when it is working?

Grease in the seat motor mechanisms is probably pretty crusty by now. Might be blowing the fuse because it's pulling too much current trying to move around.

Might also be that the re-welded seat support is obstructing the movement of the seat somewhere and binding it, causing the fuse to blow.

Or maybe the wiring the PO used to extend the seat power wires (if they had to) is hokey.

Grease seems like a good idea but they move smooth and flawlessly. There’s lots of slack in the seat wires and no splicing looks evident so I doubt it’s added wiring.

I wonder when I was wiggling the seat wires if something touched...
