Help identifying 930 pinion offset (pics)

Hi all,

I'm fitting a wavetrac LSD to my rebuilt trans, and I am trying to work out what the markings on my stock 88 930 ring and pinion mean. I understand the concept of a reference pinion offset plus the 'N' number (100th of millimeter marked on the face of the pinion), such that the measured pinion offset from the diff carrier centre line is the reference offset for the trans type plus the N number.

However, I don't have an N number, its an 'A'. can anyone tell me how I used this to correctly determine pinion depth? Does A=0 mean I just use the reference dimension with no additional offset?

The transmission is a 930/36 on a euro 88 930. I am having a bit of whine after fitting the wavetrac, even though I got the backlash the same as with the stock diff. I am guessing the pinion depth may have changed slightly even though I used the same pinion / bearing plate ship before and after the build.

Thanks.

The pinion depth should be marked on your ring gear as value "E".
Pinion depth deviation values ("N") were not used after 1984.

Thank you Jon, much appreciated. When I look at the ring gear I can clearly see E=82.67

I guess I was thrown by the old pre-84 workshop manuals I was using.
