Running a little hot
Today I took the 911 out for a spin and I noticed that the temp was raising faster than usual. After driving to get it washed and gased the temp was pasted the half way mark like 215 F. Good thing I was near the house. The temp outside was about 75 F
The last time I drove the car it was cold and rainy and it took a while to get even near the half way mark. Once the 911 was cool but still warm I let it Idle so I can get a screw driver [use as stethoscope ]to listen in on the oil lines in the front fender. I Could hear oil flowing . Is the internal/external themostat not opening up in time? The car has stock oil cooler near the engine. Is it time for up grade in oil cooler. Thanks for help

If you don't have numbers on your guage, the halfway point is about 248' F.
More reliable than listening for oil is to put your hand on the pipes running to/from the front fender. If they are BOTH hot, then oil is flowing and the tstat is at least part way open. You may have a stuck internal tstat. Put your hand under the internal cooler when hot to test. Should be too hot to touch! If it's just warm, you have a stuck tstat.

I'd clean and inspect the engine: check timing, check fan belt, check that all air hoses are in place and in good condition, check that engine sheet metal and rubber sealing perimeter of engine is in place, check that rubber sealing disks on sparkplug wires are in place and making a good seal. Pull fan and alternator and check for debris (leaves, pine needles, mice nests, etc.) on top of engine. Are the cylinder fins clean or are they clogged with dirt and oil? Then I'd check for stuck thermostats and clogged (probably air side) engine mounted oil cooler. If the engine didn't run hot before in the same environment then adding cooling capacity is only a work around to whatever the real problem is. Cheers, Jim

Jim I checked the ignition timing and fan belt and still runs the same. The engine doesn't seem to have any debris .
Chuck I felt the lines up front while it was running it feels cold. But I haven't felt the internal cool yet I will try that tomorrow. Thanks for the help

If your running mid guage and the front lines are cold, your external tstat is bad. Or your oil lines are seriously crushed.
