Hi Tony,

I'm definitely looking forward to your class and meeting new friends that share a common interest/passion. You may have already mentioned this (sorry if you did), but what do we need to bring to the class other than a good attitude?

Dennis,

The weather this morning was in the 60’s nice and cool. And at noontime it was 80°F. Perfect weather for the fall season. I strongly recommend people to come to the WORKSHOP in your work clothes because you will be doing a lot of hands on work disassembling and assembling the motors. I will provide pens and notebooks.

Use your phone camera to capture some of the special tools I use to get the job done. You are welcome to copy or improve them. While I have your attention, the venue will be moved back to the old address (across McDonald on De Kalb Pike/Route 202). In the 3 previous Engine Rebuilding Workshops attended by more than 100 (total), I only noticed a couple guys who reluctantly participated. But after some encouragement, and overcoming their anxiety, they finally got involved in the process.

Like I said many times, I want you to come to the Workshop with a positive attitude. Your fear and anxiety about engine rebuilding will be gone by the time you go home. Looking forward to meet you guys.

Tony

Hi Tony and fellow participants,

I just wanted to say how much I'm looking forward to the workshop. Tony, thank you for putting another round of these on. I sure appreciate it. Looking forward to meeting everyone and diving in.

If anyone in the 9/23-24 class needs a local ride to/from the venue, I'll have a rental car and am happy to help. Just reach out via DM.

Cheers,
Robert

Robert et al,

Please be aware that the venue is moved back to the old address where we had 3 previous workshops. It is just across McDonald Restaurant on Dekalb Pike (Route 202) in East Norriton. I started to move the furnitures and other stuff yesterday. See you guys soon.

And offered the room I was using for the previous Workshops available for us to use. Everyone attending the workshop are required to sign a waiver to protect the building owner from any lawsuit from any physical injury during the course of the workshop.

The workshop is a two-day session. Starting at 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM with 1-hour lunch break. See you soon.

The venue is a short walk from Hyatt House and directly across McDonald Restaurant. My wife have a list of places to go for lunch or dinner around the neighborhood that will be provided at the first day before lunch. Just don’t take too long to eat because we have a lot of things to discuss about engine disassembly for first day.

do you suggest renting a car at the airport or is UBER a better solution for this class?

Chuck,

Have you considered taking the train from the airport to Center City and make a transfer to Norristown Line? And finally call Uber for a short ride to venue. But this could take too much time compared to the 40 mins. drive by car from airport to venue.

Have you checked with the other guys in your group about sharing a ride considering your arrival times?

Tony

chucksmith 08-31-2024 03:02 PM

Tony, I have not considered the train, us Southern boys are not too familiar with them for city commutes. I will talk to them and figure out the best way. chuck

Tony, for 19-20 Class this TH Friday - I expect most will arrive WED afternoon and evening. Do you have a recommendation for a local restaurant or "joint" should those so inclined might gather and swap car tales and a beverage or two with pub food? Asking for a friend :)

usera 09-18-2024 02:33 AM

Tony, thank you so much for the class. It was such a great and informative time, but the best aspect was demystifying some of the parts of a rebuild. I would highly recommend to anyone wanting to learn more about their Porsche.

The September 16-17 Group had a nice dinner at an Italian Restaurant (Bacco) organized by Jonathan Dunn. There are several good places I could recommend but you have to decide the type of food you prefer.

If you need company, I could join your group today. Just PM me. BTW, we had some minor problem at the end of the day when we were doing the cam timing. I have never had participants in the past like this group.

Some of the guys stayed late (very late) to find the culprit. They volunteered to do the work with me because I have to get the motor ready for the next group. It is amazing how these guys transformed from totally beginners to capable investigators in such a short time. And they succeeded. The motor is all READY FOR TOMORROW’s participants.

Hope to see you later today.

Tony

Thank Tony, loading the car now for the drive to Philly. Looking online, for those attending if you get in early enough, planning on dropping in at Capones for dinner before retiring to my room to study the repair manual so I don't look like an idiot. Looking forward to the class.
