I seem to remember a previous posting about two different "Gulf blue" colors, one light blue and one dark blue.

Anyone know more about this?

Len

I think that guy wanted gulf and ended up with either Continental blue or sunoco blue. As far as I know there's only one gulf blue.

John Horsman's book "Racing in the Rain" says in chapter 4 -
"The Gulf Oil corporate colors were dark blue and orange, which we did not really like. Someone told us that Gulf Oil in California used light blue and orange; this sounded much better, and so it was that the first M1 Mirage carriesd those colors, with Grady Davis's approval. We could never have imagined how famous they were to become. For the record, the ICI (Imperial Chemical Industries) specifications were Light Blue P030-8013, and Marigold P030-3393."

I remember that thread...found it here:

Gulf blue?

It's a 67 S with paint code 6603...very different shade of blue.

Yeah, felt bad for that guy who ended up with Sunoco blue. Have to say I really like the Sunoco blue myself. The regular Gulf blue is stunning though.
