Rear end slots

I like these slots as cut in the photo posted by Eric McKenna in the RUF thread. Can this be done to a stock 993 or do you need to change the rear?

I don't get it. The guy moved his oil cooler to the back of the car?

Why?

Not oil coolers, intercoolers.

Eric,

Aren't the two coolers on the sides (inside the engine compartment) the intercoolers for the twin turbos's on the CTR YelloBirds?

I thought that this was the reason for moving the oil tank forward.

That looks pretty small to be an intercooler... looks more like an air box cover.. least to me..

Jorge,

The yellow box with the CTR script is the intake (airbox), the intercoolers are located where the oil tank and the engine electronics used to be. RUF moved the oil tank and electronics to allow space for the intercoolers so that they wouldn't have to sit on top of the engine.

Since there is no restriction from a top mounted intercooler, the air that comes in through the tail will take the past of least resistance once it is in the engine compartment and flow through the intercoolers and out (down) into the wheel wells.

The newer Ruf CTR's have two integrated slots in the tail, one for the intake air and one to feed the two intercooles. They also have slotted rear bumpers to allow the hot air to escape.

Here is a pic from a newer CTR Sport.
