The plug threads are all the same size, the wrench size change.

Thread size is M22x1.5 Do a search for Fumoto on the forum and you'll see there's been years numerous discussions on using these valves with good success
This is just one of many many threads Oil Valve for Changes The up to 83 statement is odd because the oil tanks are basically the same from 74 to 89. You can even go beyond 89 and find a use for it. I suspect the up to 83 statement has to do with how the engine case changed from having a removable sump plate (with vertical drain plug) to having no sump plate and only a horizontal drain plug port. I would not recommend using the valve vertically on a sump plate because it would hang down low and could get knocked off, emptying the engine of oil.

The FG-7B N series (hose nipple version) is available here for $26.95+ship (be sure to chose N series)
Our host does not offer this variant._ https://www.xtremediesel.com/fumotoengineoildrainvalvefg7b.aspx ![]() I got one from these guys, like the ability to attach a hose for draining and prevent a lot of oil splashing.

For those who subscribe to the overkill approach, this Aeroquip fitting is pretty cool too. I've used it on Peterson oil tanks.
Unfortunately a bit expensive because you need the complementary female fitting to plug in https://www.pegasusautoracing.com/productdetails.asp?RecID=9592

Super idea! The place at UWANNA's link also has a good price. I just ordered one. No more splashing as I will be using a short hose on that nipple.

I have a Fumoto on mine with great success. Definitely get the nippled version so you can slip a hose over lest there be a less minor Exxon Valdez waiting to happen.

Is the loss of the magnet in drain plugs a concern ?

loss of the magnet can be overcome by placing a magnet on the outside of the tank just next to the drain. As you drain your oil remove the magnet. My theory is the fast draining oil will sweep away the metal findings. Replace magnet after the oil change.
