3.6 (964 motor) has conic leaky injectors??
On my Rat Rod 911 I have been running into a consistent issue. When I first got her running several of the fuel injectors would leak down into the cylinder/intake over night. I replaced 4 of the 6, and chocked it up to the rusted fuel take, etc, that the car had when I bought it (esp since it had been run a bit by the PO, and a little bit while we tried to get the car running right, with the rusted tank). I also replaced the fuel tank, fuel lines, fuel filter, etc. Later on, while chasing a rough spot in the higher RPM, I lost the fuel pressure regulator. So I replaced that. The car has had trouble starting and it turns out 2 more injectors are leaking again.
I just got 6 rebuilt injectors, that are going in today. I seriously doubt this is from dirt getting into the system when, for example, I replaced the fuel pressure regulator. I have not replaced the fuel damper yet, and some people have told me the pulses from the pump can kill injectors. Anyone have any idea why I would repeatedly have injectors leaking fuel into the cylinders/inteake-manifold over night?
