Window Problem

I have a 1974 911. The driver side window will roll down only about a 1/4 of the way, then I have to push and roll at the same time to go it to go the rest of the way down.

Time to take apart your door panels and assess the issue...

Door panel is off. Can not see any problem why its not going down without force. Can the track be bent?

I had this problem on my '78SC. Prior to my ownership it had been broken into by forcing down the window. This damaged the mechanism; it was not only bent but fractured in one place which I had welded up, after removing it. Also bought a spare secondhand mechanism just in case it breaks again!
From memory the guides are adjustable so you might need to open up the guides a tad. Also you could try lubricating the guides with WD40.

I have the EXACT same problem......... have had it for years. Been annoying me for the same amount of time.

Good that you got into the door. Has anything happened or changed to your door? Did this behavior happen over time or suddenly?

If you have not already, clean all the channels, etc. of old grease and inspect everything. Be very observant of things you find in the bottom of the door and lay them out on a workbench for inspection.

Carefully roll the window up and down and observe how the window moves (tracks) downward from the inside. Any click in the X frame? Use WD-40 as the window binds up and see if shooting it into areas eases the movement. Otherwise, I'd suspect you find something in the bottom if it were entirely mechanical and not a solid re-greasing job.

Good luck! Cleaning and regrease of the roll up windows is a revelation after X number of years.
