Fabspeed Issues
So I wanted to share my experience with Fabspeed with everyone... mostly because I want to make sure others NEVER have to go through what I did.
When I had my RSR exhaust shipped, they sent me the wrong heater crossover pipe. The one they sent me was for a 3.0, not a 3.2... so it didn't fit. (The hole in the engine tin is in a different location). When I spoke to the parts manager and explained to him that I even checked the clearance after I dropped my motor... he was shocked and complained that it didn't fit because I had damaged the motor from dropping it. It was at this point that I realized I was talking to an idiot who knows nothing about cars. Nonetheless, I never did get a correct part from them and they no longer are willing to help me because they say that there is no difference in the heat return locations between different model Porsches, and my car must be some one-off, modified or prototype unit. So... please be aware. Fabspeed has idiots working there. You've been warned.

My engine is getting rebuilt currently, and I'll end up going with another exhaust system. I'll probably end up selling this one to someone. Sad thing is I ended up having it sent out for ceramic coating in all white to significantly reduce heat... only to find out later that they decided to give me the big F U and told me to go fabricate my own heater pipe. ![]()

Fabspeed has been in business for years serving the Porsche community, with excellent reviews all over, before bashing a company and calling them idiots make an effort like a gentleman to reason with them. I highly doubt they told you to kick dirt if you explained your issue in a respectful fashion.

As anyone in business can tell you - mistakes happen. It’s how you go about trying to correct these mistakes that matters. Sounds like they’re willing to rectify the problem.

Though TrakRat is understandably frustrated - and man we've all been there - turning on the public firehose of hate prior to managerial intervention possibly premature.
I wasn't there, so this might be several levels of escalation later. Forgive me if I forgive too soon. Anyway, it appears FabSpeed is willing, and definitely able to help rectify a human error, not one with malice or intent. The hobby is fraught with liars, cheats, misrepresenting losers... but also with very decent well meaning fans of the hobby wishing to do right. We hope you'll both keep us updated.

My Fabspeed on my 3.2 was great. Went on first time, sounds great, and their service and support (though very little was needed) was great. Now if they only made a big enough system for a 3.6...

I bought a Fabspeed Exhaust for my 951 in January of 2013. Great product, great experience dealing with them, super fast reasonably priced shipping and very easy install. Everyone has a bad day now and then.
I would buy from them again. ![]() Wish your experience had been better. Fabspeed Exhaust

I am more than a little unhappy with how this went. It seems that Trakrat had a bad phone call with someone from Fabspeed, and decided then and there, based on that single incident, to escalate the situation into a massive flaming of the company on a hugely viewed public forum, where it will remain forever, regardless of the ultimate outcome. I call foul.
I'll bet Paul at Fabspeed would have responded just as promptly as he did here to a private email fro Trakrat, and likely would have made it right. This thread was uncalled for. |
