1986 911 Engine Hatch

OK darn it, put a new stem on the hatch as the guide pin/bolt broke off the other one. Closed the hatch and now it will not open. Cable release if fine. Getting ready for the Porsche Clash this week so any input on how to open the hatch would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Rocky: confused:

Brother Rocky,

Your new pin is hanging up on the lip of the release plate connected to your cable. Gently but firmly move your lid forward and back or side to side as your helper pulls on the cable handle, keep it pulled. If just a hair off it will release then re-adjust the pin's position.

When you align the pin, do not close all the way, look to the sides and from the bottom to center the pin, when confident it will lock centered then close and test. I would also remove the rubber screw buttons to insure the pin will not snag or put too much pressure on that plate. Once satisfied put the buttons back and adjust to desired tension on the latch and making sure lid is not loose.

Break a Leg,

Jim

Put some grease on the pin to see where it’s touching.

rock..here my suggestion how to adjust the rear decklid and align..it from the other post ..

Align the hood without the latch.
Make sure your rubber stops are installed.
Center the hood latch in from side and from the back.
Lubricate both pieces.
Do not tighten the 10mm head bolts so the latch will find it best way into the lock.
Then gently open (not all the way up ,so the upper part does not move on you) and tighten the bolts.
That is all ..you are all done

Ivan
