installing new Konis

Time to replace the shocks on my '77 911S Targa. Front shocks appear to be Konis, and going with the Koni Sports all around. I did a search to find out more about the installation. I am a bit concerned about getting the gland nut off at the bottom. I searched through 19 pages of Koni posts here, and found nothing on installation. Any help would be appreciated. Looking for tips/tricks on install, etc. Also while I am in there, should I be changing anything else.

Thanks
Scott

I did my rear one on 76 targa and will be doing front. I don't think you need to remove the gland nut at the bottom, these are inserts and should be pulled out of the housing.

Off course, someone with more experience can chime in and educate us better.

Thanks Flojo. As I mentioned, installing Koni's to replace Koni's.
I had looked at the article from Wayne and as he mentions removing the Gland Nut is a
"major issue". I understand it is good to soak with pen oil, I will get my MAVGas torch ready, but any other input or experience with removing this nut, and replacing?

Thank you
Scott

Grab it around the edge with some giant channel-locks and reef on it.
