Lazy tire question

Hi I have a 1976 911 and want to replace the space saver tire with a 16 Fuchs rim/ tire. I was wondering if it wound fit. I’m too lazy to jack my car take off the tire and check myself....thanks dave

Will not. You can put in a gas tank from an earlier car and you can then have a full size spare. However, there may be size limitations. I'm sure someone will weigh in. Also, doing this reduces your fuel capacity.

What's the possibility of having the collapsible spare tire mounted onto a Fuchs rim? Does anybody do that?

The 15” collapsible will fit on a 15x6 Fuchs. Pretty expensive spare.

Had to find an old school tire shop to get it mounted. Big tire chains won't likely do it.

Besides the safety factor of the spare up there is the additional "ballast" good to balance the front to rear ratio. A case of where weight benefits handling?

I don't know just speculating. And if lightening the front will not impact too much how about an alloy from an different application. Does VW, Audi or MB use the 130mm lug spacing and offset?

FYI, The 928 S4 came stock with an aluminum rimmed colapsable spare.

What are your goals? Better looking frunk? Weight reduction?

From all I've read, keeping weight in the front to "balance" the rear moves in the wrong direction. Having less seems to just be better.

If weight is an issue, try the later spares that's on aluminium rims, I think you can find them in both 15 and 16 inch.
I really think its the tire itself that's heavy.

any sense of what the steel wheel itself weighs? 75 911s (duane's) post above shows just over 45 pounds for the combo of the wheel, tire, jack, toolkit and another container sitting inside of the steel wheel. Would be interesting to see the actual weight difference between a the steely, a 15x7" fuchs, a 928s4 spare, etc.
