Where To Conceal GPS/GSM Antennae in Carrera?

I need to install GPS and GPS antennas in my Carrera coupe. This is for a vehicle tracking (anti-theft) device.

Where would you put the antennas- a location that has good tx/rx reception, is easy to install, is not too conspicuous, and has easy access to unswitched power?

I assume, but don't know, that simply putting it all in the trunk wouldn't be good due to the steel hood.

How about the underside of the dash pad (I think I can reach by pulling gauges or radio)? Or under the package shelf?

I have never done any interior work on the car and don't know how to do things like run wires under headliner etc.

That will be tough.

My GPS works great with no external antenna. Back in the olden days of the original GPS I had I used a GPS antenna as a suction cup on the windshield. Good luck finding a good location.

I have not done a install but I would think having it on the rear shelf by the 3rd brake light or if waterproof mounted between the hood vent and the condenser would hide it pretty easily. Just thoughts.

What unit brand/model are you planning on using and how big is the GPS? I looked a while back but never dove full steam into the project.

Super cheap, okay reviews, I thought I'd take a flyer.

I have one sitting on the rear parcel shelf just behind the rear speakers. I ran the wiring underneath the carpet and then up underneath the parcel shelf. You can barely see it sitting there and I never have reception problems.

I have a small magnetic XM radio antenna that is in place right next to the windshield washer nozzle, so the wire can go right into the frunk and I just close the lid on the wire. No holes drilled, and it looks really stealthy there. I wax the space there really good and make sure the base is clean to avoid any scratches.

I don't have my car with me here or I'd snap a picture.

I have that same unit in my bus. I will put one in the 911 when I put the 911 back together. My intent is to put the antennas under the rear parcel shelf cover. There should be room, they are not very thick.

Middle of rear deck under parcel shelf cover would be a great spot. Concealed and will work fine through the cardboard and vinyl layers.

Agreed, and easily placed by pulling a speaker. Question is where you'd tap unswitched power.
