1986 dashboard question
I have a 1986 911 targa. The dash is very bad and I was told a 964 dash can be converted to fit. Does anyone know of this is true?

How much of the dash do you need? The 964 has a passenger airbag, except for the 1989 I believe, and of course the 86 doesnt. The pad on top looks very similar, though.

I didn’t see section in the dash for a airbag. I need the entire dash.

There are a couple of recent threads showing repair/ recovering of dashes. Might be your best bet. A while back new dashes were available but $$$.

Dashpads from 1986 to 1989 G body 911's & turbo's will fit fine (they're pretty much the same thing), there is usually some out there like ebay, The Samba, Parts Heaven, Aase Sales & many other used Porsche parts places including here on Pelican

You can go this route, save $$$$, no one will know the difference and put the $$$ you wanted to spend on the engine, or suspension, etc.....you get the picture |

Hi PSC- Classic 9 Leathershop is always a great potential option for dash restoration.

I'm assuming you are talking about a dash top. If that's the case, the 964 airbags have nothing to do with the top.
Post a picture of yours showing the dash top and front vent. I may have one. |
