There are enough crazies on this board that it seems like a reasonable place to ask...Does anyone know of some good cases for storing legal papers that must be in the car? I used to have these, but I can't find the anymore:
https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B008LTIP6S/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1 I'm finding it surprisingly difficult to improve upon a zip-lock bag, and I'm not loving the zip-lock bag...If I leave them loose, they invariably get damaged, in no small part because I have a fire extinguisher in the glovebox... |

Are you taking about registration and/or insurance docs? Put them in your wallet so when someone breaks into your car when you make a quick dash into the Home Depot and steals them from your glove box, they don't know where you live.

Take photo's pf them, keep them in an easy to find album in your phone, and do not carry the paper in the car. Just a thought.

Phone photos would require handing my unlocked phone to a cop that just pulled me over...
@MBATarga Those might fly... |

Oh man, that's it: the term "document wallet" is what I've really been searching for.

depends on what you mean by "safe place" I suppose. Yes handing your phone to the cop may be tough. I had it happen once though, had left my wallet at home and got stopped. Had the pictures of the docs, texted the pics to the cop...not an issue.
Protecting docs from damage, getting folded etc is one thing. Protection them from "enterprising" mechanics or car wash guys who might like to steal your identity is another. For the airport good ziplock or similar bag is great. Marine stores have them for charts, to protect them on boards. Usually more heavy duty than grocery store types. For prevention of identity theft...not sure.
