seein' yellow

So now I have the (not so) crazy idea of painting the project car yellow. Since its an early car I want a period color.

Please post pictures of your yellow cars.

I want to see light yellow specifically. Please post your paint code as well. thanks

Jamie

Here's a few, '73 light yellow (don't have the paint codes with me. Mine is a re-paint, and it seems a little 'colder' in tint (less red, more blue) than original, but I like it that way:

From mild to wild. Click on a thumbnail for a larger version.

And John Forcier's blue 911, which I re-painted yellow:

Thanks for the picts.

Keith, That is almost the exact color I was thinking of. So what do the members of the f-body site think about that car in their realm? Nice.

Dave, Nice looking car. You are right it does look a little different than other yellows of that era.

Jack, You have quite a collection of picts don't you? I think I have seen some of those before. Probably in the Pelican galleries.

Keep them coming.

Maybe it's too late, but Talbot Yellow has tempted at least one other Pelican-head...

Good Luck!

I painted mine 2000 Corvette "Millenium Yellow". It was close to Ferrari Light Yellow ("FLY") but a standard GM color code makes getting the paint and touching up a lot easier. I have had a lot of people say they really like it but it definitely is YELLOW!!!!

Check out my page in the photo gallery for pictures. It looks different in different lighting.

Cool

I love yellow 911's...especially early ones. It's just the right color to keep the SUV drivin', cell-phone talkin' Soccer Moms aware of my presence without screaming "Arrest Me Now Officer!" Mine is Light Yellow, paint code is 6262.

Appreciate the compliment Mark 69 911. Judging from your current (?) list of four wheeled goodies I wouldn't be surprised if you had been a previous owner!

I concur, jguthr, that is a beauty! Ever bring it out to any events, like the Porsche Cup races? I'd love to see it in person, we yellow early guys gotta stick together!

Thanks for the picts. Jguthr That is perfect. Great looking car. I love the early cars, yellow with nice brightwork trim. Hopefully that look will carry over with an extra 2" of clearance on the fenders.

Thanks for the nice words Dave.

The 2.7 is sitting in the garage, the clutch and flywheel came last week and the manifolds came today. I now have everything necessary for the conversion and will make sure everything is ready for the Engine Swap Party sometime near the end of this month or perhaps near May 10.

Who knows, I might get motivated and join the R-Gruppers up at Cambria with the new engine. I would hate to show up with a 2.0 liter!

Turbo Dave,
I'm right there with ya'! I don't get to as many events these days as in the past...that's what two kids and a way-too-busy work/travel schedule will do. However I do try to make a point to get up to the NW Historics, and as many of the big events and races down here at PIR as I can.
My car goes to German Metal Works (run by Jim Nichols, creator of the "356 Special", which was actually my 64 C Cabrio before it became THE talk of the '98 Monterey Historics paddock) in nearby Hillsboro at the end of this month for a front end re-spray. I know, I know. If it wasn't for the horrible clear-bra installed by the p/o, which is now peeling away...and taking the paint with it!, I'd keep it as-is, because I don't mind rock chips and the rest of the exterior is just fine. I'll let you know how it turns out. I'd also like to hear more about your 2.7. I'm going to post a question soon related to this.

Let's keep in touch.

turbo dave,
nice car. the color is perfect for the car and for the Pacific Northwest lighting. Have you checked the new "Pacific Raceway" website? SIR redone by the new owners? Sovren kickoff at the end of the month if I remember right. Can't wait.
