Fibreglass RS rear bumper seal on a SC

Good afternoon All,

I am mounting an EB Motorsports SC RS fibreglass rear bumper and there is a gap in the seal where the bumper bellows would sit previously (on the stock bumper).

Can anyone recommend the seal you have used with a RS rear bumper style from under the rear deflector right to the bumper edge?

Thanks for your help.

If you are talking about the area forward of the bellows, I reused the factory seal...Part #: 911-503-185-00-M136

Or, if you need a longer area covered, get the 930 bumper welting. #999-911-205-40

..or do you mean here?

I'd like to know myself. The "explanation" I got from the high-end P-car shop that did my bumper was that there really isn't a alternative. Kinda found that hard to believe. A friend of mine has a yellowbird RS bumper but with no seal at all.

That is what he means. The issue is (below) the lenses themselves. Others add a bid of generic black rubber or foam.

Getty says that their front bumpers are designed for no seal. I wonder if it is the same for the rear. Here is a quick mockup (with no real effort put into alignment) with my "74 RS" rear bumper from Getty. I will probably put a thin seal around my bumpers as I like the look.

Thanks all.

The photo of the red car shows exactly the issue.

I would think that there has to be a solution with all of the fibreglass rear bumpers available in the market.

Thanks,
Chris

Are generic seals a FLAPS item? I need a seal and was considering a single long one to run from flare to flare without piecing it together.

I am not sure what you mean by FLAPS.

My thought was to try a singe piece as you suggest. Thing is, they appear to be designed for a thinner trim piece near the flares. I can probably reuse the factory parts above for each flare, and the red car above seems to have done the same. Then it is just a matter of finding something appropriate for the remainder of the gap, which will need to be thicker. So I think without going custom rubber with variable thickness, it needs to be three piece.

i used soft ¼" tubing like vacuum tubing, just lower the bumper and place it in there and squeeze it down, looked good as factory

This is my non-flared 74 with Getty bumper and the trim strip I got from Peter. The strip actually extends another foot or so, must be cut to fit. But any generic rubber molding will do a fine job.

Call Peter at Rennspeed in SoCal, he has a gasket that works perfectly that he sells with his RS/Iroc rear bumper. Just used one on mine.

Dave over @ TRE has extended gaskets, I picked up a front RSR gasket that is an extra 3" long to accommodate flares from him.

Same color as me. Any full car photos?

I have to get one as well for my project... subscribed.

I used some generic flat rubber trim for the rear bumper on the sides... but still need to find something for the rear/center section.

If someone can identify (brand, link, etc.) and share... something idiot proof ...

For the front, I used the 964 rubber trim. To me that looks like the best finish for the RS bumper.

Going through this now we my RSR-inspired hot rod project. We are using the Rennspeed extended seal and then modified the rear light holders slightly to continue the edge that appears to end too early thereby not securely holding the body to bumper seal firmly.

I looked at at a high quality RSR build that appears to have followed the same path.

On the sides, we used a very thin gasket... see the photos. Left over from the RSR project.

Dream,

Wachuko's solution is probably your best bet as it looks like it gets installed post paint and panel fitment.
