Part # help...

I'm looking for the part number for the plastic ball cup, that goes on the end of the central locking actuating rod.

I've looked through all my books, including the parts & reference manual, and can't find it. And I have had no luck finding it in the Pelican catalog.

I'll post a pic in just a few minutes, I just wanted to pose the question first.

Here's a couple pics. I know they are crappy, but at least it will show what it is in case I'm calling it the wrong name.

Mark, I'm pretty sure it's #30 in your diagram.

Kevin, where did you find that part #? I still can't find the assembly even, in the Pelican catalog.

I have been all over looking for a replacement, at various hobby stores and such. I really don't want to buy the whole rod assembly unless I have to. Luckily the cup isn't shattered yet, so I'm trying a plastic expoy coating to try and re-inforce it.

According to my PET, for a 78SC, that #30 part number is listed as 911 531 091 00 "Pull Rod". Same part number for the 86 Cab, but 00 might be 01, depending on serial number of your car. But, looks like the 00 version has been replaced by 01 version for all model years.

Thanks everyone!

Ron I agree, at $3.18 a piece I can afford to have a couple extra laying around. I was just afraid they would have some huge 200% Porsche tax.

Part number

Do you think the number for the pictured part is 999-168-021-40?
Since Pelican never answered my email, I am not sure if it is correct.

Mod, just order part 964-537-571-00.

That's a brand new assymbly, the rod and ball cup, made of plastic. It was less than $6.00 delivered.

I could never find just the plastic ball cup in the picture. I tried every hobby R/C store I could find.

Rod + Cup combo

I don't mind the few $ for the rod and cup combo but there is nothing wrong with the metal rod and to me it would be a downgrade to change it to a plastic or a nylon rod.

I have seen the cup thing at a hobby store, $2 for a pack of 6 or 8 but I don't think they are the exact fit. BTW, the salesman thought I was looking for a part for a toy Porsche.

I have a feeling the number I listed, 999-168-021-40, is correct and is available on Pelican.

Correct Part #

Just to update the correct part number for the Door Operating Rod as well as to submit a picture of the Old and the New. When both of your doors do not lock or unlock with the push of the button at the center console, this Operating Rod Cup is most likely at fault.

The correct number is as someone already listed above, 96453757100 (<$3). Also, you may wish to get a Plastic Trim Clip, 99353156300 ($1) at the same time. Both are available at Pelican.

As mentioned above: The ball socket is not available by itself.
The whole rod has been replaced by a really inexpensive plastic rod. It appears to be a glass fiber reinforced plastic so it should be much more durable. Yes the original number of 911.531.277.00 has been superseded to 964.537.571.00
You have the wrong PET picture up to look for the part. Here is the correct page:

BTW - The #30 shown in the 3rd post above is actually the link from the bellcrank in the door to the interior door handle. Not what you are looking for.
