Ultimate R gruppe hotrod

Hi guys, new poster here. I'm love the lightweight r gruppe cars. I have a question:
Starting with an early 911, what would you do to build the ultimate r gruppe hot rod, if cost were no object.

Simple answer

The ultimate R Gruppe hot rod is the car that puts the biggest ultimate smile on "your" face. Not what cranks someone else up, but what does it for "you".

Too big a question. Many have worked at this for the ultimate one-up-man-ship. It's embarrassing how much some will spend to go at it. Just go over to the Early S Registry forum and look up Eade Hopkinson. Here is a man that has amassed a collection of one of every year of early S made and then combined the best into a 3.8 PMO carb'd ( I guess that's it) hot rod. Then he trailered it to a few meets. Oh, it gets driven once it's there.

Just as any psychologically disturbed person should seek proper therapy, you should talk with people who build these cars and the people who drive them. If cost really is no object, I suggest you also contact a psychiatrist immediately.

msgsobe - here is a link to some info I pulled together focused on light weight - that means ultimate to me. The Word doc also lists a number of the more technically oriented magazine articles (mostly in Exlc.) - I did not list articles that just talked about paint and interiors, only the real "go stuff."

Good Luck.

And remember: there are a lot of things you can do to lose ounces but only a few things to lose pounds or dozens of pounds.

Jeff Smith's red car. Ultimate. I dare anyone to find one more surreal in its perfection. You will find the pictures in Excellence, last year.
