3.6 COnversion . . . It's Running!

Finally have the motor in and running. I tried the cat with no muffler but it sounds like a drag boat . . . I mean really loud! So it's off to the muffler shop tomorrow to have my Sport Muffler fabed to fit the 993 headers. I am also going to try a couple more chips since the RUF chip causes the motor to die with the lightened flywheel. I have driven the car yet, as there are a few adjustments to work out first, but it just sounds powerful.

Al Reed did a great job on the powder coating. Fan, and valve covers in gold, engine tin in satin black. THe gold looks a little yellow in the pic but it is more 24 ct, representative of the cost of this project. Al also polished and powdercoated the fan housing after I told him to do whatever he wanted. It is really a piece of art.

that looks wicked. i am inspired. good luck on dampning the trottle return, i think i read in excellence that the ac on / idle circuit is used to cure the problem of the fast return/stalling.

WooHoo!!! That’s awesome Paul! I sure wish I could have been there today. We slipped our departure so I’m leaving on Wednesday now, this time for real.

I can’t wait to get a ride in that beast when I get home. Have fun and be careful with all the new power in that supper light SC. I’m going to need you as my coach later this year for mine.

Black Bird Lives Again!!!!!!

Great job Paul! Any danger with running that cat or your sport muffler and melting/burning the fiberglass bumper ? Don't cats run hotter than a regular muffler or is that not true?

Paul,

you are the man.

On the chip issue make sure the mirco-switch for idle engages when you lift off the accelerator. It's located at the throttle body and can be adjusted by a set-screw.

Very cool. Do you have pics of the engine prior to install showing the valve covers and fan?
