911SC: Removing "paint" from chrome window trim??

Hi everyone,

The PO of my 911SC painted the chrome window trim black (along with a not awesome black paint over of the entire car including painting the interior dash and door panels - cheapass!). Someday it will get stripped back to fair metal and resprayed white/cream but for now I would LOVE to return to the original chrome trim for a more classic look.

My question is does anyone have a recommendation for the best approach to removing this paint before I botch this up?

• Would paint stripper be idiotic?
• Sanding?
• Would I need to remove the frames from the car to do this?

All advice greatly appreciated and before you slate me: YES I HAVE SEARCHED THE FORUMS and have not yet found an answer hence my reason for posting here.

Thanks everyone!!
dK

It’s not you. As others said without saying, the built in search here has issues. I Always go to google unless I remeberbpart of the title of an old thread I’ve seen before.

Dmitry, why don’t you guys paste the google search link so it’s readily available in the forum?
