Collector car license plate
I am going to purchase a collector vehicle license plate for my '76 911 Carrera 2.7 MFI and I am looking for something interesting/great plates you may have seen during your travels.
I didn't want anything generic like 911 or my 911, something more interesting.

No h2o
achtung flt wrld 162435 h2o lol I love coming up with plate ideas! ![]() My plate currently says V1LL1AN. The car always reminded me of a car that an evil villian would drive. Loud low and black on black. However I'm switching to bright trim so I might switch to the h20 lol plate next cause it makes me chuckle! Last edited by pampadori; 04-15-2018 at 06:21 PM.. |

In Tennessee if you don’t want to have a antique vehicle tag, they will let you put a license plate from Tennessee the same year of your vehicle.

I liked my idea so well that I went and checked to see if the plate was available. As it turns out, it was! So i ordered it for my targa

Thats good to know. I need to find out if we can do that in Florida. Period Correct plate would be kinda cool...

There's a Dutch guy on eBay that sells replica German License Plates that you can customize. "Flo" in Frankfurt told me that the lettering is too modern for the older cars, but hardly anybody here in the US would know that. I put mine on the front. That's not strictly legal but haven't been stopped (for that!) in 8 years.

Forgot to add a photo. I like Umlauts so made mine from Würzburg, where I lived for a year, instead of Stuttgart that most folks use.

Get something like "derriere" or it's equivalent. I think that would be neat.

You can get a YOM plate in Florida but 1975 was the last year. I bought a 1975 Florida plate for mine right before I moved to Texas but plan on moving back soon. I’m hoping to use the YOM plate when I move back.

For a vintage car, I like a year-of-manufacture plate that just has random numbers but is period-correct. I only have experience in New York -- you can buy the plates on eBay (in NY you have to have two) and then register them with the DMV. PM me if you are interested in the nuances of the process --

I’m a fan of period plates
![]() Think I’m the only one in New York using liberty plates. Unforunatly cops just don’t get it and don’t understand the law. Been pulled over 6 times now for the plates.
