Help please with engine issue

Hi,

I have an 1980sc.

The situation is that I start the car and once warmed up it idles fine. When I then take the revs to say 2000, and then remove my foot form the accelerator the car stalls. I can immmediately start it back up and it again idles fine.

If someone can point me in the right direction I would appreciate it. A slack excuse but lack the time to search the forum at present.

thanks in advance

geoff

p.s
see my other post about what not to do with fanbelt

Forgot to add that the issue occurred around the time the smog pump was removed

The smog pump, has lines which go under the heads, where there is a port in each head which must be blocked off, as its design is to inject air into the system. It may or may not affect it, as it is coincidental, then you need to chase this first.

Start by finding the old ports from the air pump, then google to find the correct plug size (pelican probally has them, then order). Then see if problem goes away, if not then chase an air leak.

Hi Luke,

Correct me if I am wrong. The smog pump pumps air into the exhaust ports to make the concentration of the exhaust gases more ...acceptable. If that is what you mean then yes I have blocked these ports.

thanks for responding
