Then, you reevaluate your situation during the holidays and covid, and end up going nuclear... OP, this shows you need to reevaluate your communication style.

Totally bogus that all your correspondence “evidence” is buried on a clunky pelican forum. It’s 2020, if you want your part, pick up the phone and have a real conversation.

Guys like Matt have more going on day to day than most do in a week, so way to detract some time from all of our lives...
Perhaps it’s Matt that needs to work on his communication style and no one put a gun to his head to list parts that he then needs to pack and ship once sold. Patience when money is at risk without insurance is something that minimally requires punctual communication

Nathan - I believe I acknowledged this directly in my post, but let me know if not.

I know that when I buy a part here on Pelican from a seller, I am excited to get it.

We should try to be as excited about shipping parts OUT to buyers!

It doesn't always work out that way.

Point confirmed, you don’t know how to communicate.

If you just used your phone for something besides Instagram and called the guy, you would’ve spared all of us this brain damage.

How do we know the phone is just for instagram? Can we track that through the clunky forum tools?
Brain damage eh? Hmmmm.... and what was the starting point before said damage?

The parties have resolved it, it appears that both have accepted some responibility.
I'm moving on

As long-time member and sometimes seller...... let's keep it simple: if we drop the ball and take SOOO long (for whatever reason) to ship the item once we have been paid (I am guilty.... a few times), we should simply accept the frustration on part of the buyer and ask for forgiveness.

Life happens and time flies..... but when a fellow member pays for the item that YOU posted for sale.... ship it ship it ship it. Make it happen. Anything short of that, accept whatever comes your way in the form of mistrust and frustration. (and yes, i know there was an attempt to drop ship.... I know)

But the most important part.... understand the frustration and apologize. We will all see that..... it makes all the difference .

Happy Holidays, all!

Cheers.

Seller admittedly dropped the ball and apologized, buyer was right to have a beef but perhaps went public a bit prematurely ... nor does he respond well to criticism....

Worst part - the headline of this thread, which remains in place.

Notice that OP has not done as he promised in his initial diatribe

"If you want me to delete this thread and the post on your FS ad then either send me my muffler or my $425."

They won't delete the thread. It'll stay.

On the upside, it will help other forum members to be careful whom they do business with. It may not be one the OP intended though.

Always surprises me the number of posters who defend when a seller is in the wrong - miscommunication or otherwise.

Reminds me of dealing with todd at helion composites - getting the run around and ignored for nearly a year - and I still got the white knights who said I should just write off the money and move on

It blows me away how these victims somehow are always in the wrong with so many on here, it’s baffling. I will gladly sell to the OP any day of the week. He seems to only expect timely communication. That’s not too much to ask.

As with many things in life, there are different opinions on cases like this. It sounds like the buyer entered into a deal to wait for personal delivery. When the seller went quiet while on vacation, the buyer got nervous and posted here "DO NOT BUY from ..."

Certainly some follow-up was warranted. The seller has accepted he should have communicated better. He didn't steal the money. What remains is a permanent thread title "DO NOT BUY from ...". Seems a bit much, but I guess that's just my opinion.

Some simple reading can allow any potential buyer to read and understand that if he/she were to buy from this seller they may not communicate perfectly. If anything it will help establish appropriate expectations of the buyer. He was active on pelican while on vacation so I think you are conveniently overlooking that aspect. It’s not like he was incommunicado without internet

Why? Is it because I pay immediately, and then try to follow up after I’m promised to get a shipping quote multiple times which eventually leads to me getting left on “Read” where there has been account activity but no replies?
Ok. Your right. Don’t do be business with me if you think how could I have the nerve to ask for my product that I paid for.

Also if we all stop replying this thread it will get buried in a matter of days

No, you are correct to have expected better communication. If you re-read my earlier posts, my point is the posting of a "DO NOT BUY from" was premature given the scenario that was shared, especially since some of your own actions contributed to the situation you found yourself in. Threads like this turn up in searches for those who care to perform due diligence. You are standing by the way you handled it, and even got some people to agree with you. We'll just have to agree to disagree on whether a thread like this was warranted. Carry on.
