I don't think "not doing business" with him is enough in your case. $425 isn't chump change and a rather sizable deposit. There is a ripple effect with situations like this, because I do prefer receiving "someone you trust" payments via paypal, to avoid fees. However, situations like this ruin your trust in the rest of us.

I hope Matt steps up to make this right.

As they say, there are three sides to every story. Let's see what Boostin has to say.

Yup let's hear it! I have no problem pasting our exchanges.
Like I said I'm sure he's not a scammer and has dealt fine in his dealings in the past. Not sure what has changed. I'm an understanding guy, its 2020 I get there can be all sorts of things going wrong, all it requires for me is communication. Break communication, and you break trust. All I know at the moment is the man has my $425 and I have no muffler.

Just pay the 3%. $12.75 isn't a lot for peace of mind.

I am sorry you are having this situation but gifting has failed for so many. Its like sending by Western Union. You are relying on the seller to honour but there is no coverage to protect you. Its for friends and family. Paypal offers a service but it is 90% a sure that you are covered. Many times I have been offered this option by sellers but I pay the 3%. Hope it works out. I have dealt with Boostin before with no issues. Thanks Rob.

Whoa whoa whoa, Igor, slow your roll. Let's get the story straight here and I don't appreciate you defaming like this. First, I apologize for not getting back to you over the last two weeks. I was traveling for the Holiday and been ridiculously busy. It's not an excuse but it's the truth. I appreciate and understand your frustration, but don't think this was the way to go about it.

The story is that Igor bought a muffler towards the end of October and asked if I would be coming through Phoenix any time soon. I told him there might be a chance over the next month or two and we agreed to stay in tough. A couple weeks into November Igor asked for an update on if I would be coming through, and I let him know I would not and would get a shipping quote. I said I would. Igor followed up again and I let him know I still hadn't been able to find a box / pack it up / get a quote and I asked if he would like his money back, he said no, he'd like the muffler. That was 11/20. He followed up after Thanksgiving and I missed it, and now I see this.

In any case, this isn't my MO as a long time Pelican member and many transactions with fellow members. It very busy, couldn't find a suitable box and dropped the ball on communication. And I'm not sure about Pelican activity but I haven't been on in two or three weeks as cars / parts have been the last thing on my mind.

Igor - I would appreciate it if you could let everyone know that you've received your money back. And to make things right, once I have it packaged up I'll let you know, and if you're still interested, I'll cover shipping in my dime.

The Porsche world is a small one, and my name needn't be slandered over this.

Thank you for the response Matt! I despise the fact that I had to make this thread to get your attention again. Your story matches mine, and I did mention the detail you highlighted in bold that you offered to give me money back but I declined in my account of things.
I did make it a priority to check your account activity with date stamps to make sure you were online before sending messages. When I started seeing that according to your date stamps that you were active but received no replies from you is, that is when my frustrations started to grow.

Also if you sold a part and were paid and made several promises to get shipping quotes then cars/parts should definitely be on your mind until the transaction is completed.

Nonetheless, as Matt has stated I have received my refund and it is currently pending so we can put this matter to bed once it clears.
Thank You

I know Matt. He’s a decent dude. To bad it escalated to this level.
Glad it all got resolved.

That's what you think until it happens to you.

It would be one thing if Boostin hasn't been active since his last reply on Nov 20th stating that he was going to get a shipping quote and had no idea about all of the messages that I've sent him and the storm that was brewing but like I have mentioned numerous times and is my driving argument that according to the activity time stamps he's been online multiple times to have seen them all.
This didn't come out of nowhere, so it shouldn't have come as a surprise. And regardless I think that we all can agree that communication is important in any business dealings, especially when conducted online. Also I'd like to highlight again what I said in the beginning. I didn't accuse him of being a scammer, but quite opposite I stated that others may have had a different experience with him. This was purely my own.

And quite frankly, the thread worked and served its purpose and the matter is almost resolved. I say almost because the refund is still pending on my end. Thank you all for your input.

The “Friends & Family” payment that people on this forum want is the reason for a lot of the issues. Sellers are trying to squeeze every cent out of a purchase, when if they just calculate the fee into the sale price the buyers would be protected. I always pay the fee and use my credit card so I have 2 avenues for recourse, but most buyers overlook or over trust people on here

Just my $.02

Sometimes finding time to box and get to the PO isn't that simple, especially something as big as a muffler. Given he offered a refund, that to me says he isnt "a scammer" and didnt warrant this thread. Glad it worked out for you but 70 posts in..your still learning the ropes and "friends" is a common mistake to be avoided...i personally swallow the PP cost, you pay what I ask and postage only. In fact, I just shipped some parts that cost more to ship then I felt reasonable (size of box) so I reduced the costs of the part sold to meet halfway. Just saying and wish you well in your muffler hunt

Wow, Matt (boostin) is a good friend, and super honest so was surprised to see this on the first page. Without knowing what happened, I will vouch for him 100% to do the right thing.

Furthermore, in reading you far-too-long post, and in all fairness (as you stated), you were super relaxed and willing to wait several months for your free el cheapo delivery. Then, you reevaluate your situation during the holidays and covid, and end up going nuclear... OP, this shows you need to reevaluate your communication style.

Totally bogus that all your correspondence “evidence” is buried on a clunky pelican forum. It’s 2020, if you want your part, pick up the phone and have a real conversation.

Guys like Matt have more going on day to day than most do in a week, so way to detract some time from all of our lives...

You're absolutely right about two things in your second sentence:

1) You don't know what happened

2) After all of this, he did do the right thing

The rest of your post was trash. Go take a hike
