Please stay clear of this vendor. He ripped me off for $12,500. on a transmission build and purchase. Gearbox was delivered ,and once installed ,we couldn't find all the gears?
Once i mentioned it to him ,he told me to just send it back if it looked to be a BIG deal as i was having another gearbox tech look at it...we decided NOT to send it back ,and to look further ,and see if we could resolve things here.....what we found was shotty work inside. WORN BEARINGS....POOR WELDING on the speedo sensor area....USED of GLUE SLOPPIlDlY...3rd ,4th ,& 5th GEARS were ALL WORN.....the case had been sanded with some type of circular tool ,leaving grooves ,and creating uneven surfaces..sure to cause problems later down the road! I presented these things to him asking for money back ,and his reply was ,"J.C. PENNY'S does not allow MACY'S to handle their warranties". This was after i asked him if he would honor his warranty as i was on the West Coast ,and this would save us a lot of time....He knew we would uncover his ****ty work. STAY AWAY FROM THIS CROOK! IT TOOK HIM 4 1/2 MONTHS TO BUILD ME CRAP! |

Ive done some business with Joe over the years and never any problems . Most of our dealings were just on parts and never an issue . We dont use Joe on Transmission rebuilds so I cant speak about his service . Joe is involved with Salvage from Copart and IAA so sometimes parts can be compromised . Hope you can work this out . Cheers

Cogg
It is always amazing to me how bad actors can persist for years in what is a relatively small community. He is not alone ……
I believe we want to judge people by our own ( fair ) standards. Unfortunately they make a killing on screwing people. When you hear about others don’t presume you will be treated differently……..nice stories and big talk do not translate to a reputable seller.

I had a poor experience with him over 10 years ago. I didn't realize he was still doing business

Met Joe 30-35 years ago at Stoddards first ever swap meet in Ohio seemed like an OK guy did some minor transactions with him over the years with no incidents, surprised to see his name pop up on PP in such a negative way I guess you can never really tell about peoples true intentions when it comes to money.

Tom sued him when I was at Carquip, 20 years ago. There’s a reason GAD is no longer around and he’s cogs cogs now. He’s as bad, or worse, than motorneister. There are threads dozens of pages long in Tech.

I am currently paying for my grievous error of not researching Joe Cogs prior to using him. He talked a good game to do a 915 side shift conversion, so I sent him my trans. When it was finally "completed" (over 3 months) it didn't work as promised. I've spent an obscene amount of money on this, and he suggested I send it back to him. Clearly I am not going to do that. If he can't do it right the first time why would it be any better the second. I'm taking my lumps and having my trusted shop solve the problem. Hopefully I've learned a very expensive lesson about research.
