Not all Aftermarket Intakes are the same

Well, I cant stop the popping after 6months and trying everything. Im going to Webers. I ordered everything from PMO.

Found out that the intake manifolds are differnt (from PMO) than the ones with other kits(for VW's). The one's where you cant get to the plugs. Not 100% but I will let you all know when they come in.

I was under the understanding that you had to use your Solex's with the adp. plate(from PMO). For ease of getting at the plugs.

Found this out after trashing my intakes somewhat trying to get the studs out. And asking Tim Beradelli what to do next

I used the adpt plates from PMO because those solex manifolds have such a nice smooth curve, the only problem with the adpt plates are that you need to put your doghouse on first so you can get to those end bolts, then the adpt plates. I still have my old manifolds with the nice S shape.

Tel me more about this S shape. I dont understand. Maybe when the new intakes come in I will.
Have you ever noticed to new Porshe LOGo, The S shape, Looks just like the one behind the side rear window of a shiny 911/912 ? too cool. At first I didnt like the Logo, But when I shined the 912 up, found where they found the lines, the best.

Here is a pic of my old manifolds, I think these are cheap dunebuggy type. The manifold mating surface to the head is about 1/8 in smaller than the head port. When you look inside you can see the air flow really has to change direction several times, its just not a smooth curve like the solex.

The intake that PMO sells is Webber to 912 without adaptor plates, yes you can get to the plugs and it is shaped corectly. I have a set and they work well. They are good from the box but you can improve them. I port matched then used a dingleberry to get a smooth not polished finish on the inside.

VW intakes are all wrong from shape to volume.
