Targa Rear Window Seal...HELP!

I am in the process of trying to install a new rubber seal that clamps on to the rear of the Targa roll bar and seals the rear window glass. The seal follows the Targa roll bar all along the top of the window glass.

My question is: Does the ends of new rubber seal go under the lower window chrome strip at the base of the Targa roll bar? Or does it stop short of going under the movable chrome strip end??

My old seal had broken ends so I have no comparrison. There is almost no clearance under the Targa bar at the ends for the new rubber seal let alone go under the chrome strip.

I can't get it to go under unless I were to trim off most of the rubber on the ends. My guess (I hope) is that it stops at the top of the lower chrome strip.

I know from experience that I don't want to pull the lower chrome strip out of the rubber gasket to make room because it is a bear to try to get it back in place.

Help any Targa owners...Thanks.
