Question build up porsceh 912 engine

since no one responded to my VW/porsche question I have decided to build a pure porsche engine. I have a case, heads, solex carbs, stock cylinders and pistons, connecting rods and most of the sheet metal parts for the engine. Basically I want to know how adn where to get the best performance valvetrain. Cams, lifters, push rods, rockers, valves (can I use chevy springs), springs. What do you guys think is the best combination for drivable power. I am also condsidering a big bore kit. If I did this would my valve train set up change signifigantly.

I just went thru this last winter, the worst part was finding someone you can trust to work on your parts, Grind crank, cam , lifters rockers etc, and the heads, dont give them to your local "detroit heavy iron" machine shop. It took me about 6 months to get everything done which was nice becuase its very expensive, Start with Duane Spencers Book "the complete Porsche 912 guide" it really lays out how figure out what you want from the engine, and what parts you can use. It does not get into the assembly/disassembly torque spec's etc but its a real good place to start, wish I had had it when I got started. Search the posts here, I know I have several on the procress of my rebuild. FYI I had Tim Berardelli Racing do all my machine work, and he gives tons of advice/help too

You mentioned that Duanes book doesn't have all of the torque specs and stuff. What book would you recommend that I look for to find this (Meastro's maybe), or even better is their a Website. Thanks.

I also used Harry Pellows' book Secrets Of The Inner Circle version 2.0 which was a big help since the torque specs change a bit with the big bore kit.
