newbie 912 valve question

greetings
i just entered the porsche world from the vw world with a 69 912.
this is really a pretty simple question but i cannot find it documented anywhere for some reason.
unlike the vw, the intake and exhaust valves have to be adjusted to different clearences. which is which? i cant tell which is the exhaust and which is the intake.
thanks in advance for your help
confusa

The valve configuration on the 912 is identical to the VW setup. Looking at the 4 valve adjusters the two inside valves are your intakes and the two outside ones are your exhausts. In a stock setup the intake is set at .004" (10 mm) and exhaust at .006" (15 mm) with the engine cold. I usually let my engine cool off overnight and the valve adjustments are done first thing in the morning.

I hope this helps.
