Thumbs down Orginal speaker....

Well I got the dash pad off and the orginal speaker is shot. Has anyone had this speaker re-coned or know of a aftermarket replacement that will fit without cutting the dash?? Thanks!

I just spent some time under the hood and noticed that the original spkr mounted up from underneath below a grill. Looks like a
5 x 7 or a maybe a 6 x 9 may fit but I left it open for now. I used some RShack surface mounts on the floor directly in front of the front seats hooked up to a Blaupunkt which is suspended in a housing (metra 99.9000)
under the original radio opening.I'm looking for a 912 "radio blanking plate" to cover it.

Hello

Depending on the year Porsche used a overstreched oval unit. Those units are also used in some other german cars ( Mercedes, Glas ) and rare/pricey. It is easier to make a intermediate plate and use a standard specker ( and sounds better ). Some domestics did also have those strange sizes but in germany it is to hard to find out.

Cool

That's what I've found so far in my research. I'm thinking of making an adapter plate to fit a 4"x6" speaker into the stock 4"x9" hole. I also have a small 12V 30watt amp that will take the speaker output from the radio and boost it somewhat. Rock out!!

Hello

some old german radios ( Mostly the factory Blaupunkt or becker ) do have a preamp outlet.

A good way for a stereo upgrad is the Moch underdashcover. ( Needs a bit work to fit ).

I used mostly ADS 320 i´s in front. The mids in the moch the hights on the door with a special bend spacer clamped under the top cover. And for filling a 9x13 cm oval in the middle. Gives good staging. If you need low end bass then you have to add a bacoks tube. you can use the trunk and make the ventholes for the heating for the sub functional.
