This has to be a common problem but being new to air cooled I need a tip. I have reinstalled my generator and have a combination of rumble and squeal as if the fan is binding on something that I can't see.
Also if the back side of the shroud is the cooling air intake should it have a screen? Back when "bugs" where everywhere you could here most of them for blocks from the fan noise...I'm not that nostalgic. |

Okay...now I'm qualified to answer my own question...What does an incorrect size generator pulley, too small woodruf (thing in a keyway) do for your 912 ? Answer: it makes a lot of noise, heats up the bearings in the generator, wears down the center pulley hub for even more noise and heat and eventually destroys the bearings.Solution...
start all over with rebuilt generator.... Thanks Doc & Cy's for the good price ... and remember to keep the tension adjusted. Live and learn! ------------------ |
