Refurbished distrI but or for 912e possibly from Autozone?

Got a tip that this refurbished unit might work on 912e engine? Any input?

A1 Cardone 31-915 Distributor | Frugal Mechanic

It's also available from Autozone

It will depend on the advance curve. There are a few that will work some better than others.

I bought one of these for my 912E about a year ago from Discount Auto Parts for $55. I verified the curve was correct and it runs great in the car. (The P.O. had installed an "009-knockoff" that was horrible.) I have seen some negative reviews about A-1 Cardone, but so far MY own experience has been good.

Thanks Bob, how did you go about verifying the advance curve?

Regards Paul

At first, I used a timing light and monitored the advance degrees based on rpm from the car's tachometer. Later, I had access to a distributor machine (I was repairing it for a friend) so I stuck the distributor in it and verified it there.

Does anyone know where to get this distributor? Every place I've checked online is sold out...

Autozone lets you put it in you're cart, but when you try to checkout it says it's not available.

Finally found out that Cardone has no stock or cores for rebuilding... not available anywhere as Cardone is the only source I know for rebuilding.

I will be contacting Cardone to see if they will rebuild mine if I sen them a core!

Will post result.
