Generator light not going out

67 912 generator light is not going out. Have replaced regulator and generator twice. Any ideas?

Jeremy, it never goes out & stays bright? Or does it just not go out until rpm's go up? If it's the former, did you polarize the generator when you installed it? If it's the latter, just adjust up the idle a little. Best I can tell from what you stated. Good luck. George

No, it stays on all the time, high RPM or low. Do you have the procedure for polarizing the generator? Thanks.

Did you check it with a volt meter to see if it is really not charging? otherwise you can polarize it by running it like an electric motor, first unhook your fan belt, connect an battery lead to terminal 61/D+ on the regulator, (thats the big red wire that runs from the regulator to the D+ on the generator) the generator should start to run, let it run for about 15 sec.

Here is a check for the light right out of my book: 1. As the ignition switch is turned on the red ignition warning light should go on. Leave switch in this position 2. remove generator cable from terminal D+ on the regulator. The light should go out. 3. if light stays on , the cable is shorting to ground, Check cable and correct problem, then reconnect to terminal D+/61

Make sure the voltage regulator and all it's wires are secure, give the regulator a love tap with a screw driver or what ever....the contacts in the regulator stick sometimes.
