Another Value Question-

Hi all!
So, I've been through my 356 phase, currently in the 914 phase.
AND I found a 912 in my price range.
1968 Coupe, decent repaint in Signal Orange.
VERY complete car, runs crappy, been sitting a couple years.
Entire brake system gone through 6 years ago.
Interior is older, complete, needs TLC- but no holes, just saggy seat covers.
Have original doc's = Window sticker, owners manual, jack.
5 original chrome steel wheels.
I'm my own mechanic, and have built several 356/912 engines- this one just needs some seals and other TLC- but seems strong.
Basically the car needs the usual go through and putting back into shape-
WORST: rust in floors. Not horrible but enough to warrant replacing. They're just "thin" and scaly- Rest of car is solid.
Price is $3400.
Any comments?
I'm just looking for a driver and this one is just right to be not TOO much work, but enough so I can be confident its a runner.
Thanks all!
-Bob O

I'd jump on that one in a heartbeat, my 70 911 is Signal Orange and I've seriously thought about painting my 68 912 Signal Orange as well.
The car looks great, go for it man.

Update:
Well, here it is now:
1 burned intake valve
2 Bent pushrods
1 broken ring land
Mud grease dirt everywhere!
Looks like a solid lower end though.
Complete w/ Conterbalanced crank.

Here I go again... ...

Good Value!

It's better now-
Cleaned up great, runs awesome.
I got it for $3400 before taxes and whatnot-
I've put maybe $1000 into in since. Valve grind, replaced pistons/cyls, sandblast and powdercoated all the engine tin, new tranny mounts, bushings here and there...
so...$4500 give or take.
Every last thing works, all lights, brakes, tranny shifts like a Honda, interior is 100% original- no holes or tears, even all original carpet in the trunk.

It looks like it's Tangerine, not Signal Orange. I love that color! You got yourself a great deal!

Jeff-
original paint 'touch up" stick came with the car, as the owners manual says all cars came with them.
The color on the can is "Blutorange" ...Tangerine in English..? maybe!
I know Signal Red of course...I figured there was only 1 real orange color, and this has to be it.
pretty stoked either way!!

"Blutorange" is Blood Orange. Whatever it's called, it's very nice!

What is the paint code in the plate on the drivers side "A" pillar? The code will at least give the original color. My Dad had a 1969 911E and it was the same color. Tangerine.

Paint Code: 68-6809-H
Same # as on the "Lackstift" # 6809 Blutorange
It's had one repaint and isn't 'exact' ...but real close.

Realizing this is an old thread.........the lackstift seems to be a hard thing to find, your post is the only one on Pelican that even has the word.

I'd guess that most of the time they'd dry up and people would just toss them in the garbage.

6809 is "Tangerine." Almost bought a 69 with that color many years ago but someone had already put a deposit on it. One of my favorite colors.
